The 2007 NBA draft is will feature numerous young stars. Here are Suite101's updated NBA draft player rankings.
In our updated NBA draft analysis, we trim our list to the top 10 2007 NBA players, based on ability only. Remember, this 2007 NBA draft player rankings list does not consider where NBA teams select in the first round.
- Kevin Durant, PF (Texas, freshman) -- Kevin Durant just keeps getting better. He shoots the NBA 3-pointer, attacks the basket and rebounds like a dominating center. Durant tops our NBA Draft Player Rankings update and should be the first player taken in the 2007 NBA draft.
- Greg Oden, C (Ohio State, freshman) -- Greg Oden is a physical monster at 7-0, 280, and he runs very well for his size. Oden needs to improve his footwork, which doesn't seem to have gotten better throughout the season. Still, Oden is a surefire NBA star and a solid second selection in the NBA draft.
- Brandan Wright, PF (North Carolina, freshman) -- Brandan Wright has done nothing to hurt his NBA draft player ranking. This kid is an athletic freak.
- Julian Wright, SF (Kansas, sophomore) -- Julian Wright looks like he's been playing at a high level for 10 years. Someone will get a legitimate impact player in the coming NBA draft.
- Yi JianLian, F/C (Guangdong Tigers, China) -- Yes, Yi JianLian has skyrocketed on our board. As we continue to watch him and read about him, as he leads his team to the Chinese Basketball Association finals, we're overwhelmed by Yi's potential. If you molded Yao Ming and Pau Gasol into one player, you'd have Yi -- scary.
- Tiago Splitter, F (Tau Ceramica, Spain) -- Tiago Splitter is another foreign player who has leapfrogged his way to our top 10, because of his continued remarkable play and improving potential. Splitter will be much lower in the 2007 NBA draft, if he's taken at all, due to contract squabbles with his current team. If an NBA team can work a buyout, though, Splitter will be a steal for someone. Right now, he is very deserving of this NBA draft player ranking.
- Spencer Hawes, C (Washington, freshman) -- It's been an up-and-down year for Hawes, but NBA teams will drool over Hawes' size in inside moves.
- Al Horford, F/C (Florida, junior) -- Although most experts prefer Horford's teammate, Joakim Noah, we love Horford's all-around ability nearly as much as we hate Noah's inconsistency. Horford should be a lottery lock in the coming NBA draft.
- Brandon Rush, SF (Kansas, sophomore) -- Some experts rank Rush lower, due to the perception that he hasn't met with gigantic expectations. No matter. Rush deserves this NBA draft player ranking and should be a very good NBA guard. At 6-6, 210, he has the size. He shoots 41% from 3-point range, and he's not afraid to mix it up inside, with nearly 6 rebounds per game. If Rush slides lower than this in the NBA draft, some NBA team will be very thrilled.
- Mike Conley, PG (Ohio State, freshman) -- There's been no indication that Conley is entering the 2007 NBA draft, but with all the talk of him being a lottery pick, he'll have to consider it. The protypical point guard, Conley has all the skills. He is frighteningly quick, thinks pass first (6.4 assists per game) and is a very good mid-range shooter at better than 53%. If he decides to enter the NBA draft, Conley is deserving of this NBA draft player ranking.
