The basketball season is young, but NBA trade rumors are underway. New York's Stephon Marbury and the Clippers Chris Kaman head the list of those who may be traded.
With NBA trade rumors already swirling, New York's Stephon Marbury is constantly being discussed. The Clippers' Chris Kaman is another player whose name is being bandied about, long before the NBA trade deadline. Marbury is unhappyStephon Marbury, one of the league's biggest jerks, hates New York and Knicks president Donnie Walsh, and Marbury can't get out of the Big Apple fast enough. For his part, Walsh wants to grant Marbury's request to be traded. Marbury is owed $21.9 million, and Mr. Selfish won't budge on renegotiation. Shocker. Marbury wouldn't give a dollar to his mother, if she were starving and asking him to front her some scratch for a candy bar. The Knicks will most likely cut Marbury loose, even if they lose on the deal -- just to get this cancer out of New York, which is playing surprisingly well. This deal could happen sooner than later. Chris Kaman staying in Los Angeles for nowAll it takes to ignite the fire under NBA trade rumors is one general manager saying he's interested in a guy. This is the case with Clippers' center Chris Kaman. The Charlotte Bobcats told the press that they had talked to Los Angeles about Chris Kaman, even though Clippers' GM Mike Dunleavy shut them down immediately. Suddenly, everyone thinks Kaman is available. He's not, at least not now. Depending on how the Clippers' season progresses, he may become NBA trade bait. Jamaal Tinsley unhappy in IndianaWith the arrival of T.J. Ford and the improved play of Travis Diener, Jamaal Tinsley has become the odd-man out in the Indiana Pacers' backcourt. Consequently, Tinsley has requested a buyout of his contract. The Pacers are trying to trade Tinsley, who has $21 million left on his contract, making him very difficult to trade. Of course, there are plenty of NBA teams who could use a veteran point guard, who averages 10 points and an eye-popping 7 assists per game in his career. Tinsley, however, is a lousy shooter who also averages nearly 3 turnovers per outing, meaning he's likely no better than a backup player. If an NBA team is willing to eat his $7 million yearly salary, Tinsley will definitely be traded, significantly strengthening someone's guard rotation. Compounding matters for the Pacers is the fact that Tinsley has been hurt all season. Damaged goods aren't easy to move in the NBA. These are the early-season NBA trade rumors. As the NBA trade deadline approaches, there will be plenty more. Stay tuned.
