With everyone counting them out the Warriors fought adversity and destroyed the seemingly unbeatable Mavericks in 6 games
Unbelievable, incredible, an 8 seeded team beats a number 1 seed in the Dallas Mavericks. I am not going to lie, I wanted Dallas to lose so bad that I was jumping up and down with every three, steal and dunk that the Golden State Warriors had in this series, I have a new found respect for these guys, especially Baron Davis.
A six foot, stalky point guard from UCLA, mostly known for having great potential, number 5 Baron Davis. This guy has always been good, but he has also always been hurt. Baron Davis has never really had the chance to excel with a team long enough to make a difference, but this is his year. Even if the Warriors get stomped in the next round, they have left an affect on the league that will never go away and something we as basketball fans haven't seen in a long time, a team that was willing to do anything to win, especially on defensive end, which is a lost art in today's NBA. These guys were everywhere, not letting the Mavericks breathe for a second without a defender right up in their face, completely shutting down the league's probable MVP Dirk Nowitzki( he should be ashamed to accept that award after the way he played in this series). Nowitzki was a wreck, clank after clank, on the ground almost every time he drove to the hoop. The Warriors just knew how to play him and they didn't give up for a second. I get chills just thinking about the way they played, total team basketball on offense and defense!
Nellie ball they call it, Don Nelson's way of playing ball and he has done wonders motivating this team, he took a bunch a players that no one wanted and turned them into a team that resembled an elite division 1 college defense and a scoring offense rival to the Phoenix Suns. Remember these names because they are not going anywhere but up, Matt Barnes who had two amazing dunks which are probably all over youtube, one in particular on Dirk, Stephen Jackson, three point shooting machine, who went 7/8 in last game, Jason Richardson who is known for his dunks, but came through in the clutch in this series with threes and timely baskets. This the future of the NBA folks and I get the feeling as long as Don Nelson came keep this group together with Baron Davis leading them, sky is the limit for these boys.
