Chris Bosh, a power forward nicknamed CB4, left college after just one year to enter the 2003 NBA Draft. In December 2004, he became the face of the Toronto Raptors after Vince Carter left for the Nets, and has since led his team to one Atlantic Division Championship, and two playoff appearances. The Raptors lost in the first round both times to the New Jersey Nets and the Washington Wizards respectively.

In 2004, Toronto fans were stunned when the Raptors traded Vince Carter to the New Jersey Nets. Fearful of the team’s impending doom, several years and a new GM were needed to turn the ball club around and return to the postseason. The good news for Toronto fans was that they had an All-Star in the waiting in Chris Bosh, who was anxious to prove himself. Some would even argue that the sub .500 records of the 2004 and 2005 seasons were less the result of Carter’s departure and more the result of management.
Chris Bosh Traded to Pistons?
When trade rumors start flying early in the season, fans of various influential teams, not to mention the sports media, make predictions over the NBA’s most coveted players, and where they’re likely to wind up. Towards the height of the rumor mill is whether or not Chris Bosh will be traded to the Detroit Pistons.
For some, the notion of Piston interest isn’t so far fetched. Since Pistons trade for Allan Iverson, Detroit brass might be looking to further strengthen their roster by adding Chris Bosh. More power might equal a better chance to return to their 2003 glory season. Should such a deal go down, Raptor fans will no doubt want to know what they will be seeing in return.
The Raptors Without Bosh
If the Raptors trade Chris Bosh, expect to see management demand some serious consideration for the team from whoever picks up their power forward. For those unfamiliar with the Raptors front office, the management has been vibrant since 2006. GM Brian Colangelo (formerly of the Pheonix Suns) has become known for being a General Manager who is always making deals for his team and can find new talent in the most unassuming places.
In recent years, the Raptors have proven that they can squeeze by in the NBA if they must trade away their biggest star. Other key players, such as Jose Calderon and Jermaine O’ Neil could also be called upon to fill the gap.
