The NBA Power Rankings belong to the Phoenix Suns, who have won 16 straight games, but Dallas has an NBA-best 38 wins and is a very close second.
NBA Power Rankings -- Week 13
- Phoenix Suns (35-8) -- Another ho-hum week for the Phoenix Suns, who won four more games, extending their winning streak to 16. Dallas may have more wins, but, for now, Phoenix is the obvious choice to head our NBA Power Rankings.
- Dallas Mavericks (36-9) – Dallas took a minor ding to its armor recently, with a loss at Chicago. Otherwise, the Mavericks are nipping at the Suns' heels.
- San Antonio Spurs (31-14) -- Tim Duncan and the Spurs suffered a tough loss at Houston, but San Antonio has won 4 of 5 and is the clear choice for the three spot in our NBA rankings.
- Utah Jazz (29-16) -- While we and many others wait for the Jazz to crash, Deron Williams keeps proving he is one of the top NBA point guards, and Carlos Boozer continues to add to his NBA MVP resume. Utah remains a force in the NBA Power Rankings.
- Houston Rockets (27-16) -- Houston has survived a 3-game losing streak that included losses on consecutive nights against Dallas and Phoenix. We wonder how high in the NBA rankings the Rockets would be, if they had Yao Ming.
- Washington Wizards (25-17) -- Washington has taken the lead in the NBA's Eastern Conference and has a stunning inside-outside combo with NBA MVP candidate Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler.
- Los Angeles Lakers (27-16) -- Los Angeles is searching for a point guard, prior to the NBA trade deadline. If the Lakers get one and get healthy, they'll be as dangerous as anyone come playoff time.
- Cleveland Cavaliers (25-18) -- The Cavaliers are suffering through a difficult time. Cleveland went 3-4 out west, came home and lost to Philadelphia then lost LeBron James to a toe injury. Still, with a healthy LeBron, the Cavaliers are very deserving of the eight spot in our NBA Power Rankings.
- Detroit Pistons (24-17) -- Detroit is an NBA Eastern Conference leading 13-8 on the road -- a stat anyone would love come playoff time.
- Chicago Bulls (26-19) -- The Bulls have won 6 of 8, including an awe-inspiring 96-85 thumping of Dallas. This alone is enough to get the Bulls back into our NBA Power Rankings.
