Chris Paul should be MVP even if the Hornets do not finish on top of the West standings. Last year they had 39 wins. This year they will have 55+. Chris Paul's statistics are historic. No player in the NBA has ever lead the league in assists and steals, while scoring 20+ points per game. Chris Paul will be the first. There is an elite number of players that have averaged 20+ points per game and 10+ assists per game. Not only will Chris Paul join that list, but he'll have the best assist to turnover ratio of anyone that has ever done it!!! Historic!!! The best assist to turnover ratio of anyone who ever scored 20+ppg and 10+ apg in the history of the NBA. 1st player to ever score 20+ ppg and lead the league in assists and steals!! Historic!! This can't get overlooked just because Kobe has never won an MVP and this is his best shot. Kobe's numbers are amazing... Paul's are historic. And as of right now, his team is doing better. - CP3 = MVP
See my reply in the other Chris Paul MVP forum. I don't disagree. I still give a slight edge to Kobe, but I go back and forth a lot on it, I mean, MVP isn't all about the numbers and I think Kobe has done some remarkable things with his team to...MVP worthy things. He's quietly made teammates better, including Bynum, Turiaf and Farmar and was leading the Lakers to the top of the standings even before they acquired Gasol. Plus, you can't overlook the fact that the Lakers won the division. I mean, with the Lakers injuries this year, I think both teams had an equal supporting cast, or close enough for government work.
